Letter to prospective donors
January 18, 2008
Dear Community Partner,
Each year the Regional Service Corps, an AmeriCorps program, provides literacy activities at local libraries for elementary school students during winter and spring breaks. In doing this, we seek to provide a safe, positive, and interactive learning environment while the children are on break from school. In addition, we hope to encourage the use of the library system and enhance a sense of “community” through the experiences the students have during the project.
During our 2007 winter literacy project, thanks to contributions from businesses such as BZen Med Aesthetics, Doors Jewelry, PressCraft, Inc., and Print Plus to name a few; we were able to serve over 250 youth in the Tri-City area. With your help we will serve even more students this spring in our, “Go Wild for Reading” program and “I Love to Read” poster contest. Activities will be held April 8th, 9th and 10th at local libraries throughout the Tri-Cities.
Would you consider helping us provide these activities to children in our communities? Thanks to support from AmeriCorps, we are able to offer these activities free of charge, but require local matching funds or in-kind donations from businesses such as yours to provide the craft and activity supplies needed for the program. Your donation of craft supplies, cash, or gift cards allow us to provide a fun, safe, and educational school break to hundreds of students throughout the area. In return we will recognize your support on our website and in our Annual Report to the community. Please see the attached menu for project needs.
Thank you for your continued contributions to support literacy in our area. If you have any questions please contact Brittany Williamson at (509) 531-3994.
Thank you for your consideration and support,
Brittany Williamson
